About Quartermaster
Small, reliable utility APIs that AI agents and developers pay for per call - a fraction of a cent in USDC over the x402 protocol on Base. No accounts. No API keys. No tracking.
Why it exists
APIs for agents have historically meant sign-ups, key management, rotation, and subscriptions you forget you are paying for. x402 revives the HTTP 402 "Payment Required" status code so software can pay software directly: an agent calls an endpoint, receives a machine-readable payment challenge, its wallet signs a USDC payment, and it retries. Two requests, settled on-chain, no human in the loop. Quartermaster is a broad, dependable toolbox built natively for that model.
What it offers
- 32 paid tools across web data, AI, x402 ecosystem tooling, read-only Base chain lookups, and developer utilities - each with its own page, live example, and price. Plus free tools and a free x402 Inspector.
- An MCP server (49 tools) any Claude, Cursor, or agent user can mount with one line - listed in the official MCP registry. See Connect.
- The x402 ecosystem dashboard - an hourly crawler grades public x402 endpoints 0-100 with the same audit engine we sell, publishes the results honestly, and lets any endpoint owner claim their endpoint for a full report, an owner-verified mark, and an embeddable score badge. Scores cannot be bought.
Proof over promises
Quartermaster audits itself in public: a daily automated self-test exercises every endpoint and settles real x402 payments on Base mainnet - if something breaks, the public status page shows it within a day. The full posture is documented on the Transparency, Security, and Privacy pages.
Who is behind it
Quartermaster is built and operated by SureWhyNot, LLC, a veteran-owned American software studio (surewhynot.app). It runs entirely on Cloudflare Workers. The receiving wallet is receive-only: we never hold, move, or trade anyone's funds - the product takes payments, not custody.
